Admissions

Admissions

The Institute for Shock Physics is a multidisciplinary research organization within the College of Arts and Sciences.  Graduate students from multiple academic disciplines in the physical sciences and engineering conduct their PhD research in ISP under the advisement of Institute faculty.   Because ISP is not an academic department, prospective students must submit their application materials through the Graduate School and the academic department that most closely matches their educational interests.  For example, if you are interested in obtaining a PhD in Physics, you would apply directly to the Department of Physics and Astronomy.  Links for the various academic programs at WSU are listed below.

How to Apply

Applicants must apply online through the Graduate Schools Application Site, which also lists minimum admission requirements. In addition, academic departments may have specific admission requirements beyond those required by the Graduate School.  Please visit the academic department’s web page listed below for more information.

In your application materials, please indicate your interest in ISP research activities in either the Research Area or Graduate Admissions Statement of Purpose application fields.  Please contact the Institute for Shock Physics if you have questions about this process.
